The stock and bond markets haven’t been all that friendly to investors this year. There has been some improvement since the beginning of this quarter, but markets are still lower than they were in January. That being said, most investors do not want to see how much they are down. However, as a University of Nebraska employee you must log into your account.

The transition from the old retirement investments choices to the Target Date Funds (TDF) happened last week. Please take a moment to login to your account at Fidelity or TIAA (or both) to see if everything looks correct. The simple thing to say is you should see an investment in the Vanguard Target Date fund based upon your age. To figure that out just add 65 to the year you were born and that should be close to the TDF. For example, if you were born in 1968 and you add 65, your TDF should be in the 2035 fund.

As we have discussed in prior News articles, not all funds mapped to TDF especially with CREF investments or the 403(b) with Fidelity. Then you have the legacy positions that you currently held. No new contributions will be going into those legacy positions.

If you notice any discrepancies the best thing to do would be to contact TIAA or Fidelity for an explanation.
